Biography: Did you know Loveland Ski Area was the first major ski area in Colorado to make snow in 1967 with diesel compressors used by construction crews building the Eisenhower Tunnel?

Did you know Loveland Ski Area has been the first ski area in North America to open with continuous operation for the sixth consecutive season? (2000/2001-2005/2006)

These are just a few of the unique historical facts about Colorado’s longest continually owned and operated ski area. As we prepare for our 70th season of operation, we would like to share with you what makes Loveland Ski Areas history so unique and how it has become an icon for skiers and riders today.

For over half a century, Loveland has been long known for some of the best skiing and snowboarding conditions in Colorado. At Loveland you get 1,365 diverse acres of terrain and breath-taking views from the second highest chairlift in the world, high atop the Continental Divide. Up here, 400” of snow isn’t just average, it’s expected.

Lifts are open from

  • 9:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday
  • 8:30 am to 4:00 pm on weekends and designated holidays
  • Skiable Acres: 1,365
  • Base Elevation: 10,600 feet
  • Summit Elevation: 13,010 feet Lift-served: 12,700 feet
  • Vertical Drop: 2,410 feet
  • Snowmaking Capability: 160 Acres
  • Lifts: 3 double, 2 triple, 3 quad, 1 surface lift and 1magic carpet (ski school only)
  • Average Snowfall: 400 inches based on 31 year average
  • Longest Run: 2 miles
  • Slopes: 13% Beginner 41% Intermediate and 46% Advanced

Transportation:

  • Parking is FREE at both areas
  • A FREE shuttle service is provided between each area from 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.

Military Season Passes!

Loveland Ski Area wants to thank you for your service by offering special discounted season passes.

Military Season Passes will go on sale Labor Day weekend. You can get them on base or at a ski show.

  • Active duty military (Army, Navy Marines, Air Force), Reserve, National Guard, Coast Guard need to present their valid military-issued ID cards at the Loveland Ski Area season pass office.
  • Immediate family members of active or reserve military personnel are also eligible for this program. Dependent family I.D.s are required.
  • The pass is good for unlimited skiing and snowboarding at Loveland Ski Area for the 2009-2010 season plus 3 free days at Monarch Mountain.
  • Available for purchase only at the Loveland Ski Area Season Pass Office.
  • Retired, Retired Reserve, Inactive Reserve, Civilian Contractors, Standby Reserve, ROTC, Foreign Military not eligible.
